Pas was suppose to contest in Bayan Lepas, not Gerakan, claims party man
Mohd Iskandar OthmanGEORGETOWN - A Pas party member alleges that his party was originally slated to contest in Bayan Lepas, contrary to Gerakan's current position.
Penang Pas secretary Isruzee Ibrahim said the move may see Perikatan Nasional (PN) losing the Bayan Lepas seat if they nominate Gerakan president, Datuk Dominic Lau Hoe Chai.
He claimed the seat may have been taken away by Gerakan after negotiations with PN central leadership.
Isruzee said the matter was not discussed beforehand with the central leadership of Pas however the change caused his removal from the seat.
"Due to Dominic being the Deputy President of PN, arrangements at the higher levels to alter the candidate's name were made without the approval of Pas central leadership.
"Pas central leadership had issued the final list of candidates who would contest but i was removed," he claimed when contacted by Sinar Harian, today.
Iszuree said Lau's action to contest in Bayan Lepas may anger the machinery and supporters of Pas, including the loss of Malay votes in the upcoming Aug 12 polls.
