PETALING JAYA - Perikatan Nasional (PN) can capture Selangor if 90 percent of Malay voters turn out to vote.

Its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the percentage of Malays who went out to vote was still low.

He said based on the record of the last general election, almost 30 per cent of Malay voters did not go out to vote.

"Perhaps they are confident that PN can win but that 30 per cent number is a large number of votes.

"If those voters come out, we will be able to win three to four more seats.

"Therefore, I ask the PN machinery to go down to meet the voters and remind them to fulfill their responsibilities on August 12," he said at the Selangor PN candidate announcement ceremony at Taman Medan on Wednesday.

Among the leaders present at the programme were Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin and Selangor Gerakan chairman Teo Kian Feng.

Muhyiddin announced that PN would contest in all 56 seats in Selangor led by Selangor PN Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali who would contest in Hulu Kelang.

At the event, Azmin also led the recitation of the PN candidate's pledge to reject corruption.

He hoped that all parties would be open to accept the candidates chosen by PN to compete in the Selangor poll.

He said the priority now was to solve problems and fight for the fate of the people of Selangor and not for personal gain.

"We chose this candidate because we believe they will be spokespersons, not sit quietly in the hall and say nothing.

"They need to be determined because this is a trust given by Allah and the people use their votes to elect representatives.

"If we fail to fulfill that trust and responsibility, we will be questioned in the afterlife," he said
