ALOR SETAR - Caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has clarified that certain parties planned a conspiracy to undermine his credibility over the past six months, but it did not involve the authorities.

He said his political career had been a target since October of last year, alleging that he was consistently targeted in various schemes planned by irresponsible parties.

One of them was an incident where a bomb was thrown at the store of his official residence in Seri Mentaloon, he said.

"That was part of the conspiracy. When there was a change in government, I was also prevented from attending meetings at the federal level. They tried hard (to stop me) but failed because I am smarter.

"I was only allowed to attend after I made a fuss about it. This is a conspiracy," he said at a Wednesday press conference at Wisma Darul Aman.

Muhammad Sanusi, who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Elections Director General, said he has never accused the authorities of plotting a conspiracy against him.

Instead, he believes certain groups are trying to undermine his position before the state elections.

"I never said the police were part of this, so why are they so sensitive? I don't want to argue with any civil servants. All civil servants are my friends.

"Civil servants should work within their respective jurisdictions and not follow the instructions of political elites for their own political gain. Such actions could be harmful to the country and the future of civil service," he said.

Previously, the police denied involvement in the conspiracy to arrest Muhammad Sanusi that had allegedly been hatched over the past six months.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the arrest of Muhammad Sanusi was made based on a series of investigations.

When asked on the possible culprits involved in the conspiracy against him, Muhammad Sanusi claimed to have no knowledge or suspicions.

"Draw your own conclusions. Whoever can make a profit is the one who plans," he said.

Muhammad Sanusi said he has been giving statements to the police daily to help with the ongoing investigations.

"I don't know where they're from (Bukit Aman or Kedah), all I know is they're part of police force. They've been taking my statements every day. It looks like the focus is on me, right? That's why people pity me.

"Don't overdo it, people will get angry later," he said.

On Oct 17, the main gate of the official residence of Kedah Chief Minister of Kedah was splashed with red and blue paint.

Prior to that, a cabin used as a store at the residence was destroyed after a bomb exploded in the wee hours of Oct 16.

Then Kedah Police Chief Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said initial investigations led to the discovery of samples believed to have been used to produce the explosion.
