Three family members including two-month-old baby killed in crash
NORHASPIDA YATIMDUNGUN - Three family members including a two-month-old baby died in an accident after their vehicle crashed at Kilometre 375.8 of the East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2) near Bukit Besi here on Tuesday.
Victims Nik Muhammad Zayyan Irfan Zulhilmi Ismail, his mother Raja Nurhanani Nabila Raja Hussin, 23, and grandmother Noreha Mohamed, 53, died in the accident which occurred at about 6.25pm.
Dungun District police chief Superintendent Baharudin Abdullah said he received the report on the incident around 7.30pm.
He said prior to the incident, the family of five were driving from their home in Kampung Semat Jal, Wakaf Bharu, Kelantan headed towards the Batu 10 Army Camp, Kuantan.
"As they arrived at the scene, the Proton Wira driven by the victim's brother Raja Haikal Najmi was believed to have lost control before crashing into the sewage line at the side of the road before the car overturned," he said.
A team from the Kuala Berang Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) was rushed to the scene to aid in extracting the victims.
Baharudin said Nik Muhammad Zayyan along his grandmother died at the scene and were brought to the Dungun Hospital Forensic Unit for further actions.
Raja Nurhanani who was a nursing supervisor died at 10.30pm while receiving treatment at the Hulu Terengganu Hospital.
"Two other victims who were the siblings of Raja Nurhanani, Raja Haikal Najmi, 20, broke his right leg and Raja Nurhumairaa Nadzirah, 17, suffered a broken left shoulder.
"The victims who were badly injured were rushed to the Dungun Hospital for treatments," he said.
Baharudin said the case was investigated underSection 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
