SHAH ALAM - Muda Bandar Utama candidate, Abe Lim Hooi Sean says she will be running the nation's first green political campaign for the upcoming Selangor state elections.

Lim, who is a renowned environmental activist expressed that her decision to contest for the state elections is to bridge the gap between climate activism and policy making.

She has participated in UN climate conferences, worked with multiple governments and has traveled to 18 countries in the past year to carry out climate education programmes for both the public and private sectors.

Despite her extensive background in environmental activism, Lim has been facing allegations of being disrespectful to the Orang Asli community in the past.

Citizens commented on her Instagram seeking clarification regarding the accusations that were made against her this past week.

One user asked her opinion on the accusations of her disrespecting the Orang Asli community in the past.

To this, she said during the COP26 event two years ago, she had provided what she had hoped were constructive ideas for the exhibition and it was never in her intent to speak ill of the Orang Asli community.

"Any miscommunication with the party involved was promptly addressed," she wrote on her Instagram.

Lim added that the accusations online confused her as the situation ended on good terms between the both of them.

Another user questioned whether the allegations of her being a climate performance artist were true. This comes after screenshots of the climate activist riding her friend's private jet made rounds on the internet.

However, Lim said that her past records are evidence of her commitment to climate activism.

"I've diverted 7,000 kilograms of plastic waste from landfills with Purpose Plastics and I’ve worked with ClientEarth to hold international governments and companies accountable through the power of law."

Lim further expressed her sincere apology if any of her actions have inadvertently caused any offence or misunderstanding and she recognises the immense responsibility she has to shoulder from now on.

Abe Lim Hooi Sean, more commonly known as Abe Lim is a UK-trained lawyer from Oxford Brookes University.

She has also completed the executive business programme at Stanford University Graduate School of Business and has gone on to achieve amazing feats in her line of work.

In her activism, Lim is the founder and CEO of Purpose Plastics, a board director of ClientEarth London, and manages climate education for Foundation for Environmental Education Denmark.
