Poignant moment in the cabinet meeting, as Chief Secretary fondly remembers Salahuddin

PUTRAJAYA - Chief Secretary to the government,Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali described the atmosphere of the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday morning as different from usual.

Through a Facebook post, he described the vacant seat left by the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who was the the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister caused a sense of melancholy.

Mohd Zuki also uploaded a picture of the place occupied by Salahuddin before.

"Although he is gone, his enthusiasm and commitment in carrying out his duties as a member of the cabinet, especially in dealing with the cost of living issues of the people will continue and be fought for until the government's agenda is achieved," he wrote on Tuesday.

Salahuddin, 61, breathed his last at 9.23pm Sunday at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB), Alor Setar, Kedah.

He was previously rushed to the HSB emergency ward at about 10.15pm on Friday and received treatment after experiencing nausea and vomiting, before being diagnosed with a brain haemorrhage by a specialist doctor.
