SHAH ALAM — Spotify has increased its prices in 50 countries, including the United States, Thailand and Singapore, for the first time in over a decade.

The price hike will see US Premium users paying an additional US$1 per month, from US$9.99 to US$10.99.

The price increase also applies to other countries in the region, such as Thailand (from THB199 to THB239) and Singapore (from S$12.98 to S$14.98).

Spotify said that the price increase is necessary to "continue to innovate" and "deliver value to fans and artists on our platform."

The company also said that existing subscribers will be given a one-month grace period before the price changes apply.

Malaysia was not included in the list of countries where Spotify is raising prices.

However, it is possible that the company may increase prices in Malaysia in the future.

The price increase by Spotify comes as other streaming services, such as Netflix and Disney+, have also raised their prices in recent months.

This is due to the increasing cost of content production and the need for streaming services to generate more revenue.

It remains to be seen how the price increase by Spotify will affect its subscribers.

However, the company is confident that the majority of its subscribers will continue to use the service, even with the higher price.
