DAP assemblyman announces withdrawal of candidacy
SHAH ALAM - Former DAP Pulau Tikus assemblyman Chris Lee Chun Kit announces his withdrawal of candidacy in order to prioritise his health amidst upcoming state polls.
Lee said that announcing his withdrawal was a tough decision to make, but on top of the health issues, he had to care for his elderly parents and autistic sister.
“After consulting party leaders and his family, I decided that withdrawing from the state elections was the best decision to make for myself and health,” he said.
Lee also thanked his party leaders, friends, and family for their support.
"I wish the next Pakatan Harapan candidate for Pulau Tikus well and I will be around to support him or her in any way possible.
"Thank you for the wonderful five years," Lee said, adding that this would not be the end of his journey and that he would come back to serve the people after all matters were settled.
In a Facebook post, Lee said that he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which had been the reason behind his fluctuating body weight for the past five years.
This condition, he said, had caused a constant spike in his resting pulse rate.
