Bursa Malaysia remains higher at mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR - Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-morning, buoyed by continuous buying support, most notably in the financial services sector.

At 11 am, the FBM KLCI rose 9.46 points to 1,434.15 from 1,413.52 at Friday’s close.

The key index opened 1.07 points higher at 1,425.76.

The broader market was also positive as advancers edged past decliners 404 to 306, while 390 counters were unchanged, 1,193 untraded and 15 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.72 billion units worth RM713.53 million.

Among the heavyweights, Maybank added seven sen to RM8.99, CIMB rose five sen to RM5.40, Public Bank earned four sen to RM4.02 and Petronas Chemicals gained 13 sen to RM6.63, while Tenaga Nasional declined seven sen to RM9.39.

Of the actives, newly-listed MYMBN bagged 5.5 sen to 26.5 sen, Hong Seng Consolidated and Sarawak Consolidated Ind ticked up half-a-sen each to nine sen and 44 sen, respectively, and UEM Sunrise widened 1.5 sen to 45 sen, while Classita Holdings eased two sen to 13 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index gained 62.64 points to 10,569.72, the FBMT 100 Index was 61.56 points better at 10,257.45, the FBM 70 Index perked 58.08 points to 13,957.18 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index increased 47.82 points to 10,858.70, while the FBM ACE Index slid 46.84 points to 5,273.02.

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index jumped 147.40 points to 15,969.69, the Energy Index rose 6.84 points to 830.45, the Industrial Products and Services Index improved 1.42 points to 164.30, and the Plantation Index increased 88.28 points to 7,223.59.- BERNAMA
