KUALA SELANGOR - Perikatan Nasional (PN) has pledged to waive parking fees in North Selangor if the voters give the party a mandate during the upcoming Selangor state elections.

Selangor PN Chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the matter is relatively easy to implement because he and the Selangor Pas Commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi have experience governing Selangor.

“Excluding (payment) parking fees in Tanjong Karang and Northern Selangor is only a small problem.

“God-Willing if PN wins for the people of Permatang, Sungai Burong, Tanjong Karang, Sungai Besar, Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor and this whole state (Selangor), we will waive the parking fees in Northern Selangor," he said during a ceramah at the Permatang State Legislative Assembly PN Machinery Launch in Tanjong Karang yesterday.

Azmin also informed that Selangor had four billion state reserves when he was the Menteri Besar, along with the former Pas Exco.

“We give free water for more sustenance, (then) the Healthy Caring Scheme, the Charity Scheme and the Hijrah programme.

"Remember Hijrah? Wanting to do roadside business; not having any capital; not able to expand business due to affordability; (then)not able to take bank loan. We (at that time) gave away capital (Hijrah loans) from RM10,000 to RM50,000.

“Spend and expand the stalls and shops, we did not charge any interest. Just pay monthly with a minimum rate,” he added.

Previously, in a similar speech, former Tanjong Karang Parliamentary member Tan Sri Noh Omar said that before, the Tanjung Karang residents had not agreed to the PBT charges on paid vehicle parking fees in such locations.

He said, the Tanjong Karang area is still categorised as rural.

“Residents shopping for things do not take too much time, they go out for drinks and already get fined.

“I am confident that if PN wins this time (in Selangor), this matter will be settled,“ he explained.
