JPPKK targets 500 new students to register for Tvet Foundation Programme
JOHOR BAHRU - The Polytechnic and Community College Education Department (JPPKK) is targeting the admission of 500 new students into the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Tvet) Foundation Programme for the first session of 2023/2024 academic year at all five pilot polytechnics by this Wednesday.
Its director-general Dr Mohd Zahari Ismail said the Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) through JPPKK and Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) has provided more than 40 per cent of the country's Tvet employment.
"This is a great achievement and a pillar of national development. It is therefore appropriate that the Tvet Foundation Programme is launched this year," he said in a statement today.
Mohd Zahari said the marketability of Tvet graduates, especially from polytechnics and community colleges, was over 95 per cent, which showed that the graduates were highly sought after by industry players.
Earlier, he had inspected the registration of students at Tun Syed Nasir Syed Ismail Polytechnic (PTSN) in Pagoh, Muar.
The Tvet Foundation Programme is the latest MOHE’s initiative to empower Tvet as a special preparation for SPM school leavers to continue their studies for a period of one year and the students will then continue their studies at the bachelor's degree level at MTUN.
Besides PTSN, the programme will be also offered at Merlimau Polytechnic in Melaka; Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic in Pahang; Ungku Omar Polytechnic in Perak, and Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Polytechnic in Perlis. - BERNAMA
