GUA MUSANG - The wedding reception of three Orang Asli couples from the Temiar tribe was made a memorable event by the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Along Uda, 30, and his wife Norzulaikha Nubi @ Zulkifli, 24, were among the 20 newly-married couples celebrated at the Jom Kahwin programme under the Kelantan Sentuhan Kasih Desa Madani at Dataran Kesedar Paloh 2 today.

Along said he got married in September last year at their village in Pos Hendropp.

"We just organised a small feast last year. Today, we are fully dressed as a bride and groom, make-up on, sitting on the bridal dais, enjoying a festive meal and there are also photographers to capture these special moments," he told reporters when met here.

Another couple Wahid Ismail, 17, and Rosnani Ahmad, 19, from Kuala Betis said the event sponsored by the Community Development Department (Kemas) helped them save a lot.

"My wife and I also received free family management advice," he said.

Meanwhile, Herry Samad, 19, who works as a rubber tapper, and Leyoi Along, 22, thanked Kemas for looking after the welfare of low-income groups who cannot afford wedding celebrations.
