One killed, another injured after colliding with car making U-turn

KLUANG - A man died, while another one was injured after their motorcycles collided with a vehicle making a U-turn at Kilometre 73 of the Johor Bahru-Air Hitam road here, today.
Kluang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident at 8am involved a Honda Wave and Yamaha 135LC motorcycles with a car.
“Initial investigations found that the Honda Wave and Yamaha 135LC motorcycles were from Johor Bahru heading towards Ayer Hitam and Simpang Renggam.
“During the incident, both riders were attempting to avoid the vehicle which was making a U-turn and crashed into one another before hitting the vehicle,” he said in a statement today.
He said the accident caused the Honda Wave rider, Azmi Mohamad, 44, from Simpang Renggam to suffer severe head injuries and died at the scene.
He said the Yamaha 135LC rider, Muhamad Azri, 24, also from Simpang Renggam, suffered head injuries and was treated in the yellow zone at the Enche’ Besar Hajjah Kalsom Hospital (HEBHK) here.
He said the vehicle as well as the car registration number were unidentified as the driver fled the scene.
“Efforts to track down the vehicle and the driver who caused the accident is underway and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
