Dr M's appearance on Pas' stage just a meeting of 'emo people' - Rafizi
BAYAN LEPAS - The meeting of former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and PAS has been described as a meeting of those who are 'emotional'.
According to PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli the meeting was also a meeting of the 'we don't like Anwar gang' and was not focused on discussing problems affecting the nation, as compared to what the Madani government ministers were doing.
"The meeting was more of a meeting of emotional people, they did not even touch on (the issue of) national debt, nothing much of benefit
"This meeting is more about 'we don't like Anwar'. God willing, the people can do their research, but I will not be dragged into playing with the same emotions.
"We have work to do and we cannot solve problems in an emotional state. We have a good policies and we are focusedon how we want to convey these policies to the people," he said
Rafizi said this at a general meeting after attending a session of the half-term review of the 12th Malaysia Plan with the caretaker Penang Government here on Saturday.
On Friday, Dr Mahathir spoke at the Perikatan Nasional (PN) stage in Kelantan and called on the people toreject the Unity Government which is he described as a failed government.
Commenting on Dr Mahathir's presence at the event, the Pandan Member of Parliament added that it was Mahathir's right to participate in any political party's campaign ahead of the state polls.
"That's Tun's right, my view is that campaigning is everyone's right and we encourage as many as possible to pitch their ideas to the people. I think the people will also make choices based on past experiences.
"So in this circumstances, Tun also has a record with Pas and Bersatu. Therefore, when Tun appears on the PN stage, it has different effects on different people.
"Some voters may like it but I think there will be voters who will question what has become of their principles and positions before," he said.
Rafizi added this was because in the past, Dr Mahathir had his own stance on PAS and Bersatu.
"So just because he does not like Anwar, at such an age, even though in the eyes of some it shows unity between these figures, it will also be interpreted differently by other voters," he added.
He also said that the election is the best arena to solve the problems of the people and the country, but it was not an arena to be emotional.
"What is best, we leave it to the people for this state polls, just like I repeated in my previous speech, this election is the best arena for us to compare policies, programs, a competition to solve the problems of the people and the country.
"It is not good if it is used as a field to play emotions. I am sure that the people can actually judge when Tun appears on the PAS and Bersatu stage," he said.
