IPOH - The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Perpaduan has called for a thorough investigation to be carried out into the incident of a pupil who was hit by a falling toilet cistern at the school.

The school PTA chairman Mustafar Rahadi said parents of students who went to the school have started voicing out their concerns over the mishap and feared that such incident would happen again.

Accordingly, he said the association suggested that a special committee be formed consisting of technical experts to ensure the safety of the facility.

"It is true that we were informed about the school toilet upgrade project worth RM200,000, but when this happened, many parents questioned the quality of this upgrade project.

"In fact, in the previous PTA meeting, there was also a discussion to upgrade the toilet whether it was according to the designated specifications or otherwise," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian, today.

Mustafar said parents have the right to voice their concers since their children were at the school almost single every day.

He explained that the PTA also needed to seek for an explanation from relevant parties regarding the details of the allocation that had been used for the upgrade project because the amount was quite huge.

It was reported that a Standard Three female pupil at SK Perpaduan was injured after a toilet cistern fell onto her last Tuesday.
