SHAH ALAM – Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz accepts the fact that his name was not listed as a candidate in the Selangor state poll.

Tengku Zafrul said that as a party member, he leaves it up to the leadership's wisdom to determine the best strategy to win the polls.

"When it was decided that I would not contest, it means that my role is not part of the strategy being planned by the leadership," he told Sinar on Friday.

However, he expressed his commitment to help the Unity Government candidates who would compete in the polls in Selangor and five other states.

Tengku Zafrul said that as Umno Kota Raja division chief, he would like to see and help the party win state assembly seats in the state.

"We can prove that Umno is not solely dependent on Pakatan Harapan, which we know is strong in Selangor," he added.

Tengku Zafrul was previously mentioned as a candidate who will contest in the Sungai Kandis State Legislative Assembly.

However, the Supreme Working Council Member was unsure if his name would be nominated and left it entirely up to the leadership to decide.
