The usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become increasingly rampant in various industries including the eyecare and optometry fields.

Beyond detecting vision problems, to assisting with diagnoses, it has changed the way consumers shop for glasses too.

One optical retailer, SpectacleX has implemented this technology to deliver a better customer experience.

This is how it essentially works. SpectacleX has an app called the Virtual Try On app that allows customers to virtually try on its range of glasses directly from their smartphones, eliminating the need to do it physically at the shop.

The AI-powered software conducts a detailed facial analysis and personalised product recommendations based on the user’s face shape and skin tone.

But the customer experience doesn’t stop there. a professional eye examination and lense consultation can be done in-store as well.

Its founder, Daniel Lim said the business leverages AI and Augmented Reality (AS) to differentiate itself from other players in the optical industry.
