KUANTAN - The Pahang state Enforcement Unit (UPNP) successfully thwarted a bauxite mining site without a licence or a valid lease in a location near Kotasas here on Thursday.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the activities were tracked down following information received by a UPNP Elite Team while patrolling the district at 2.15pm.

"Their investigation found two excavators and three tripper lorries were used during the mining activity before the raid was done.

"UPNP Enforcement Officers then asked for the mine manager to display the approval for the activities of unloading the minerals, but they failed to do so," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Wan Rosdy said six men were arrested, and two excavators and three tripper lorries were seized at the location.

He added that the case was investigated under Section 158 of the Pahang State Mineral Enactment of 2001.

"I would like to state that the Pahang government is always implementing enforcement on any illegal land exploration activity or activities that violate the regulations set.

"The Pahang government will take strict actions without compromise to ensure all activities against these rules are eradicated," he said.
