MELAKA - A Form One female student died on Thursday, believed to have fallen from the first floor of her school building in Durian Daun.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said in the 2.15pm incident, the 13-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head injuries.

He said early investigations found the victim was in school sports attire without shoes and lying down on the ground floor of the school.

He said no witness so far has seen the incident when the victim fell, but a gardener saw the victim lying down on the ground.

"We received an emergency call from a teacher that a student had fallen.

"The incident is believed to have occurred on the second floor following the victim’s shoe being found on the floor," he said in a statement.

He added that the forensics department confirmed there were no criminal elements or foul play found in the incident, and the reason behind this incident was still under investigation.
