SHAH ALAM - Safe Community Bonds Association (SCBA) chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thyre has urged the Education Ministry to consider introducing a syllabus on the dangers of e-cigarettes or vape in primary and secondary schools.

He said the knowledge would help teens understand the negative effects of using e-cigarettes and prevent them from becoming addicted.

"This is important as the statistics released by the Health Ministry show that the use of vape among teens is a serious problem," he said in a statement today.

Lee said he had seen e-cigarettes being sold in several shops, including night markets, which showed that the sale of these products was unregulated.

He called for an act to be passed to prevent people under the age of 18 from owning e-cigarettes.

"It is time to take concrete measures to ensure that the use of e-cigarettes among teens is stopped," he said.

Lee urged all non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to work together to share ideas on how to best prevent young people from using e-cigarettes.
