Firemen rescue mentally disabled man stuck on a tree
PERAI – The Fire and Rescue Department has rescued a mentally disabled man after he was found stuck on a tree at Jalan Todak 4, Seberang Jaya near here.
It took the firemen about an hour to bring the man down from the tree.
Butterworth Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer II Khairul Nizam Abu Hassan said they received a distress call on the incident at 8.08am on Tuesday.
When the team arrived at the scene, they saw the man at the top of one of the trees.
"Six firemen were deployed to the location to bring down the man, who is at a height of 20 metres.
"The victim was taken down using fire engine ladders. He was healthy and handed over to the police before being taken to the hospital for further action," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He added that the operation ended at 9.36 am.
