ALOR STAR - More than 1,000 people gathered at the arrival hall of Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, near here, to greet caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor today.

The supporters were present as early as 3pm to support the Perikatan Nasional's (PN) election director, who was charged at the Selayang Sessions Court in Selangor.

The cries of takbir and the chants of "long live Sanusi" were heard as soon as the caretaker Menteri Besar, appeared at the arrival hall at 4.30pm.

Also present were Pas and state government leaders, including Kedah Pas Commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yahaya, Kedah Pas Secretary Musodak Ahmad, Kedah Pas Information Chief Mohd Azam Abd Samat and Sanusi's wife Tok Puan Jusmalailani Jusoh.

Several MPs were also present, including Alor Setar MP, Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, and Padang Terap MP, Nurul Amin Hamid.

Sanusi was charged at the Selayang Sessions Court on two counts of uttering seditious remarks that could incite disloyalty towards the Rulers.

Nurul Amin said the presence of those who welcomed Sanusi proved they were also affected by the incident involving the political leader.

"There are many questions among the people because the prosecution of the (caretaker) Kedah MB was so quick, and the crowd's presence at the airport proves that many are behind him," the lawmaker said.
