SABAK BERNAM - Caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is suggested to remain in his position if the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition wins in the upcoming Selangor state election on Aug 12.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Amirudin has shown good leadership throughout his tenure as Menteri Besar, and that he is responsible for the state's strong economic growth.

"The first quarter of 2023 showed that Selangor's economic growth was 5.6 per cent, which is the highest in Malaysia.

"This is not even including the investment from Tesla Inc and SpaceX, which is expected to bring in billions of ringgit into the state," Anwar said in his speech during the Selangor State Level Agro Madani Contact Programme at MSekin Wonderland, Sekinchan, on Tuesday.

Anwar said that the stability of the political situation in Malaysia has also helped to attract investors to the country.

"Investors are confident in investing in Malaysia because they know that the political situation is stable," he said.

Amirudin was appointed as the 16th Selangor Menteri Besar in 2020, and he is the third leader in the state under the PH administration.
