JOHOR BAHRU - A teen active in splashing red paint on homes and vehicles of a loan shark (ah long)’s victims around the city was arrested by police on Monday morning.

Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the 19-year-old man was arrested at a premises at Taman Ehsan Jaya here in a raid at 2am.

"The arrest of the suspect was made after receiving a police report from a 48-year-old man regarding the red paint splashed at the gates of his home and two vehicles at the Taman Desa Jaya residential area at 10.30am yesterday.

"During the raid, the teenager was arrested and the team seized a motorcycle, two licence plates, two cans of red paint, clothes, pants, slippers and a black bag," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

He said the arrest led the police to solve five other criminal cases which involved similar offences.

He explained that checks on the suspect found no prior records and he was tested negative for drugs.

Raub said the suspect was remanded for three days under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code, starting from Monday to Wednesday.

He added the case was investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
