Sanusi should step down from MB position and retire - Faiz
KUALA KEDAH - Caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is facing calls to step down from his position and retire from politics after being accused of insulting the Selangor royal institution.
Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Leadership Committee member Muhammad Faiz Fadzil said that Sanusi should face legal consequences for his actions as a lesson to prevent further insults towards the Malay Rulers.
According to him, as a leader, the Menteri Besar should set a positive example for the public rather than the opposite.
“An apology is not a solution. It wouldn’t educate the public to obey the laws.
"We want the royal institutions to be respected and upheld by Malaysians. We can’t have leaders like this.
“I think Sanusi no longer deserves to be Menteri Besar or a political leader, he should retire because the MB must be in line with the Sultan despite being in different states. The spirit in upholding and respecting the royal system is not instilled within himself,” he told a press conference on today.
Faiz, who is also the Malaysian Fisheries Development Board (LKIM) chairman, made these statements during the Rahmah Mesra Madani With Fishermen in Pasar Nelayan Seberang Kota Programme.
He explained that the Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, had stated that Sanusi's remarks, which were deemed insulting to the Selangor royal institution, remained unresolved.
Faiz believed that the evidence was clear and that the matter should be brought to court for Sanusi to defend himself.
Faiz also pointed out that Sanusi had previously made statements that questioned the unity government established by Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, which could be considered as insults to the royal institution.
