KAMPAR - The public is being urged to use their own creativity to display their patriotism for the Independence Month and Waving the Jalur Gemilang Campaign.

Perak Communications, Multimedia, and NGO Exco Mohd Azlan Helmi said any initiative made to make the Independence livelier should be done without disrespecting the national flag.

He said the installation of flags on premises must be done properly, and that the flags should be placed at appropriate locations.

"We encourage all premises, whether government-owned or private, or even homes, to display the Jalur Gemilang for the Independence Month," he told reporters after the Merdeka Kembara and Jalur Gemilang Convoy Release programme at a supermarket in Kampar on Sunday.

The convoy ceremony was officiated by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

However, Azlan also cautioned the public to be vigilant when they put up Jalur Gemilang.

He said the public must be observant towards all flags put up to avoid mistakes that could disrespect the Jalur Gemilang, such as having it installed backwards.

He explained that the old flags must be replaced by new ones, and that the Jalur Gemilang should not be simply disposed of everywhere.
