KUALA TERENGGANU - The former Menteri Besar of Terengganu, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said says he will cooperate in a probe on allegations of owning a luxury residence in Kihal, Kemaman, which recently surfaced on social media.

Ahmad said there is no need to hide any information about the matter, as the residence was constructed in stages and took nine years to be completed.

“The land belonged to my late father... I didn't even buy it. When my mother died, I was the Menteri Besar and my Lord (Sultan Terengganu) visited the house where the windows and doors were missing during the incident.

“I slept facing the door and others saw the Menteri Besar sleeping in front of the door. So why should I be afraid, go and investigate?

“In fact, I built the house little by little and bought my items from Thailand because it was cheap. Only after I became MB was the house completed and it took nine years to complete," he told reporters. here.

He said this in response the viral social media clip with some individuals claiming that the construction of the luxury bungalow was the result of corruption.

Commenting further, Ahmad denied the allegation and described the accusation as slander against him.

"My house was built in the year when we lost first. If you think it's corruption, you can investigate and check with the Prime Minister's Department and Home ministry.

"I built a house. The house should be ready but it is not ready because it is done little by little and it takes time," he said, attributing the accusations to individuals spreading false information with malicious intent.
