ULU KELANG - Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Datuk Seri Azmin Ali took a jibe at PKR Information chief Fahmi Fadzil, claiming that Fahmi has failed at his duties as the Communications and Digital Minister.

"He should focus on his duties first at the Ministry, many are questioning his abilities to helm the ministry as he seems to not be focused on his role and the goals of the ministry, " Azmin said.

Azmin's bold remarks was in response to Fahmi who challenged him to compete in the seat contested by Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, in the upcoming state polls, slated to happen on August 12.

"The question of me where I am contesting is none of PKR's business, they should be deciding on their candidates first.

"Who is contesting where is at the discretion and consideration of all the parties in the coalition, we will put forth candidates that will bring victory to the party," he told Sinar Daily at the 2023 Azmin Ali cup final match held at the BB Sports Park in Taman Melawati here.

In earlier reports, Fahmi had challenged Azmin to run against Amirudin if he was ready to become Selangor Menteri Besar.

Fahmi Fadzil said if Azmin was ready to become Selangor Menteri Besar, he should have the courage to run against Amirudin.

“Wherever Amirudin competes, Azmin should fight for the same seat against the Menteri Besar.

“I will help (Amirudin) to ensure that we succeed in burying (Azmin) if he contests in Gombak State Legislative Assembly (under Parliament) or if he contests in Hulu Kelang, we make sure he loses there,” Fahmi was reported as saying,

Last year, the 15th general election (GE15) saw Amirudin, who represented Pakatan Harapan (PH), won with a majority of 12,729 votes.

Amirudin won 72,267 votes, while Azmin, who also held the seat three terms ago contested under the PN logo, received 59,538 votes.
