KAJANG - Two men travelling on a four-wheel drive were arrested after colliding with another vehicle while fleeing a police inspection on Kajang Silk Highway yesterday.

Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said that the incident occurred at 7.18pm, when the two local suspects, aged 30 and 31, revved after being ordered to stop for an inspection.

“The suspects’ vehicle was being chased by a police patrol car against the traffic when it hit another car from an opposite direction.

"As a result of the crash, the suspects’ car halted in the middle of the highway before the police arrested the duo,” he said in a statement earlier today.

Zaid said that further inspection of the vehicle found some equipment suspected to be used for burglary and cable theft.

“Both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and possessed 20 and four previous criminal and narcotics records, respectively,” he said.

He said that the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from carrying out duties.

“Both suspects are also facing Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving in a manner that endangers other road users, and Section 28(i)(ii) of the Minor Offences Act for the offence of possessing burglary tools,” he said.
