Food delivery rider dies after being trapped under lorry

MELAKA - A food delivery rider after met with a fatal accident with a trash lorry in Jalan Gaung Piring, Cheng here on Friday.

The victim Muhammad Nor Adam Asraff Abdullah, 37, who lives in Taman Tanjung Minyak died at the scene after suffering fatal injuries on his head.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit said had the victim who was riding a Honda RS150R motorcycle was on his way back to the fast food restaurant he worked in Cheng after delivering a meal to a customer.

He said the victim had lost control at the scene and crashed into the lorry causing him to be trapped underneath the heavy vehicle.

“The heavy vehicle was reported to be heading from Kampung Solok Gaung Piring driving towards Sekolah Tun Haji Malik, Cheng and attempted to swerve to the left.

“The friction caused the victim to fall and get trapped under the lorry, the victim was declared dead by medical officers arriving at the scene,” he said in a statement.

He added the victim was sent to the Melaka Hospital Forensic Unit for an autopsy.

“No witnesses came forward to aid investigations and the case was investigated following Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
