PUTRAJAYA - The Personal Data Protection Department (PDPD) has launched an investigation into a personal data leakage incident on the Misi Rakyat website belonging to Bangsa Bertauhid Sdn Bhd.

In a statement, the department said Misi Rakyat founder Nur Ahmad Faiz Mohd Azmi was summoned to PDPD on Thursday to record his statement.

PDPD is working with CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) to identify whether there was a Personal Data Protection Act 2010 violation.

The department received a report of the incident on personal data leakage of the website from MyCert, CSM on July 4.

On the same day, PDPD contacted Bangsa Bertauhid for confirmation on the incident and asked for a sample of the data involved.

"The company was instructed to conduct an internal investigation and complete the Data Leakage Notification (DBN) form," the department said today.

PDPD urged companies and organisations that processed personal data in commercial transactions to comply with the principles, regulations and standards of the act.

"Companies and organisations are also reminded to be more careful in processing personal data to avoid personal data leakage incidents," it said.
