Follow Jakim's rules before saying yes to foreign concerts, says Pas man

SHAH ALAM - A Pas committee members says it is acceptable to hold foreign concerts in the country as long as they adhere to Shariah laws and comply with the rules set by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).

Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki said Jakim has set guidelines to ensure that concerts are not conflicting with Shariah principles.

"As long as the rules are followed, I don't see any obstacles in organising concerts in Malaysia," Zuhdi told Sinar Daily.

Pas youth rhad previously demanded the government to cancel and withdraw foreign concerts in Malaysia that are not in line with Islamic values.

In August last year, Pas Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari had warned of nationwide protests unless scheduled concerts featuring international artists are cancelled as he claimed it encourages hedonism and were incompatible with the norms and values of Muslim life in Malaysia.
