Former inmate arrested for stealing vehicle in Petaling Jaya
PETALING JAYA - A former inmate and a man were arrested by the police within four hours of stealing a Perodua Axia in the Petaling Utama housing area on Tuesday.
Petaling Jaya district police deputy chief Superintendent M Hussin Zolkifly said that the victim, a woman, lodged a report about the missing vehicle at 1:51pm.
“Checks found that both suspects had prior criminal and drug records.
"One suspect was arrested and recently released from prison on June 30 after committing a crime under Section 323 of the Penal Code, while the other suspect is unemployed,” he said in a statement today.
A raid was carried out at 6:30pm in Taman Sri Sentosa at a scrap metal store in Kampung Pasir Baru, Kuala Lumpur, and both suspects were successfully arrested.
The stolen vehicle was also found at the store.
Hussin said that early investigations found that the vehicle was stolen to be sold in the market.
Both suspects were remanded for three days under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A(1) of the Penal Code.
