Politically Frank: Penang DAP will not take any challenges from PN lightly, says Rayer

SHAH ALAM - Penang DAP will not underestimate or disregard any challenges presented by PN, DAP's Jelutong MP RSN Rayer says.

While Rayer acknowledges the importance of confidence in winning in Penang, he also said it is necessary to hard work in preparation for the upcoming state elections.

"They (Pas) are confident at the same time we (DAP) should not take their challenges lightly.

"As far as we (PH, DAP, Unity Government) are concerned we must always be prepared, we cannot take anything for granted and we must work very hard especially after what we have seen transpired in the last general elections," he told Sinar Daily’s Politically Frank.

He was referring tothe increasing influence and popularity of Islamic party Pas, advocating for the implementation of stricter Islamic laws in the country.

When asked on sentiments of Penang voters over Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Umno workig together, Rayer said the people of Penang welcome the concept of a Unity Government.

"People in Penang want peace, harmony and everlasting good relationship between people of various races.

"Also a stable government to administrator the country for the sake of all Malaysians," he reasoned.

Rayer said Umno will contribute positively to the governance of the Penang government and sees Umno's involvement as beneficial and potentially playing a constructive role in the administration.

The nomination date has been set for July 29, with early voting scheduled for August 8.

This state election is the second-largest political battleground following the 15th general election (GE15).
