First M'sian anti-scam film "White Horse Prince Oppa" highlights love scams
KUALA LUMPUR - The first Malaysian anti-scam film, "White Horse Prince Oppa", was launched today.
The film highlights the growing problem of love scams in Malaysia.
Federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said that the film aims to raise awareness of the dangers of love scams and to teach people how to protect themselves.
"Love scams are one of the most common types of scams in Malaysia, and they can be very costly for victims. In some cases, victims have lost millions of ringgit," he told reporters following the launch of the film's trailer.
The film tells the story of a primary school teacher who falls in love with a man she meets online.
However, the man turns out to be a scammer and the teacher loses a large sum of money.
The film is based on a true story, and it is a collaboration between Dream Film and the CCID.
Ramli urged the public to watch the film and to learn from the mistakes of the victim.
He also warned people to be careful about who they trust online.
"We never know who is behind the screen, so it is important to be cautious," he said.
He also urged the public to stay vigilant, especially in this modern era with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“One of the issues of AI is that it is growing and it is a chance for the scammers to use AI tactics to scam as it can be anyone’s face and voice.
The film is scheduled to be released in cinemas later this year.
