Thai Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Kanchana Patarachoke said Don and Suu Kyi had a "private over one-hour meeting".
"She (Suu Kyi) was in good health, both physically and mentally,” she said in a statement.
Kanchana said Don has briefed his ASEAN counterparts who are meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia this morning on the meeting with Suu Kyi.
Don is the only foreign envoy to have met Suu Kyi since her detention when the army seized power from her elected government on February 1, 2021.
The meeting between Don and Suu Kyi is a significant development in finding a solution for the ongoing political and humanitarian crisis in Myanmar.
Meanwhile, Don told reporters on the sidelines of ASEAN foreign ministers meeting in Jakarta that "it was a good meeting” with Suu Kyi.
According to AFP, Don said Suu Kyi had called for renewed talks to end the crisis in Myanmar.
"She encouraged dialogue,” he said adding that he was advocating for engagement with the authority in Naypyidaw, AFP reported - AFP
