SHAH ALAM - The collapse of the Muafakat Nasional (MN) coalition is alleged to stem from the actions of Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who tried to establish cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) under the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the 15th General Election (GE15).

Perikatan Nasional (PN) and central Pas elections director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said he had never made enemies with any Umno members in MN and believed there was still hope for the coalition to be revived as before.

"He (Zahid) is the one who caused the collapse of MN so that he could cooperate with Anwar Ibrahim. He has a problem, not us (Pas).

"I do not consider my Umno friends who were once together with MN to be enemies now, no. I still consider them friends. Because the boss (Zahid) wants it like that, they have to follow.

"I still tell my Umno friends, do not hit too hard because tomorrow (maybe) we will be friends again. I am still open in that regard; MN can still be revived," he said in the Keluar Sekejap podcast broadcast on Tuesday.

Sanusi also described it as absurd when commenting on the claim that Pas left MN to be with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) umbrella.

"The reason given by Umno is that Pas has to stay in Bersatu. That does not make sense.

"In my understanding, the basis of MN's establishment is ummah unity, not PAS-Umno unity.
