‘Anwar shouldn’t be afraid of his own shadow’ - Zuhdi
SHAH ALAM - The movement to topple the government is not new but has existed since 1998.
Pas central working committee member Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki reminded Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim not to be quick to lash out and blame any party for the existence of the movement.
He said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman himself had previously led a movement to topple the government.
“At that time, I was involved, I went down the road with him (Anwar), and when he became the government, he saw other people just like that too.
“The statements saying that we will take over the government in August (August) are common. That’s called a political war, if it is true, then it will happen,” he said in the 405th Wacana Sinar titled ‘PRN: Banyak Isu Belum Selesai?’ (State polls: Many Unsolved Issues?) which took place at the Karangkraf Group Complex here, last night.
The programme was hosted by Ismail Adnan and also featured three other panellists which were Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Supreme Leadership Council member Dr Mohd Yadzil Yaakub, Terengganu Umno Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said and DAP Central Committee member RSN Rayer.
Zuhdi also reminded the prime minister not to be afraid of his own shadow.
“The current government has two-thirds of its support except that within the component parties of the government, they are prejudiced against each other.
“(They are) No confident in that person, no confident in this person, that will be the reason for him to fall, not because of betrayal because they are prejudiced as what happened in the government 22 months ago,” he explained.
Suspicion among each other, he said, would worsen the problem.
“We cannot look at the issue of government instability as a problem and it is not an issue related to sensationalism.
“I see that the real issue is due to the multiparty system because Malaysia, after GE14 had a diverse coalition of parties,” he said.
Zuhdi explained that the issue could only be resolved if BN and PH became one party.
“That way, we only have PN and PH and if there are only two parties, I’m sure the problem of party hopping will not happen.
“We already have an anti-hopping law, and hopefully this state election will lead to a two-party system,” said Zuhdi.
