JOHOR BAHRU - Johor has received a total of 9.14 million tourists since the reopening of international borders in April 2022, which is also the highest number compared to other Asean countries.

Through his official Facebook post today, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the state is also optimistic in reaching the target of 10 million tourist arrivals for this year.

Therefore, he said through the cooperation and support of the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) and related agencies, the mission of making Johor a major tourist destination in the country can be realised.

"The Johor state government expresses its gratitude to Motac Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing for agreeing to allocate RM3.5 million for works to upgrade the infrastructure of tourism destinations in Johor.

"Johor is a state that has great potential in the tourism sector, it includes the beauty of the islands, a national park, cultural and historical heritage, iconic festivals and a food haven,” he said through the message.

Onn Hafiz said, for example, the Mersing area which is famous for its beautiful island, the national park which is rich in natural treasures, as well as Kampung Sungai Melayu which can be used for eco-tourism, are among the destinations that can be highlighted. - BERNAMA
