PN is confident of winning Selangor despite fierce competition
KUALA LUMPUR - Perikatan Nasional (PN) does not deny that it will face fierce competition in Selangor ahead of the state election that will take place soon.
Its Youth deputy chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad said although there is going to be a tough fight, PN is still confident of capturing Selangor based on the division of the component parties in Barisan Nasional (BN) and the inability of Pakatan Harapan (PH) to lead the country.
Ahmad Fayhsal who is also the Armada leader of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) said, PN is confident that non - Malay voters will change direction due to the split in BN and the weaknesses that have become apparent in PH.
“PN’s main challenge in the state election this time is in Selangor, but we will do our best to ensure that the voters will favour us.
“Our advantage in the state election this time is due to MCA and MIC not being with BN and not even wanting to help Umno.
“This causes Umno to fight alone, so it is an advantage. Therefore, we are confident of capturing Selangor,” he said in a press conference on Monday.
He said that one of the factors that will contribute to the success of PN in Selangor is the list of candidates who will contest this time.
He said not only big names like Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, but several other big names who have served in the public sector will also join PN in Selangor in this state election.
“I don't want to get ahead of the top leadership to name these big names.
“We will wait until the nomination day. But what can I say is PN is the best choice for Malaysians at this time,” he said.
When asked about the public response to PN, he said the response received was very encouraging and it was shown by the people of Terengganu recently.
He explained that around 50,000 people attended the programme and were confident that they could create a 32-0 victory in Terengganu.
“We are confident that we can sweep Terengganu and Kelantan as we did in the last general election.
“As much as possible, we don’t want to give anything to Umno or PH in these two states,” he said.
