Award winning journalist Wan Noor Hayati dies
KUALA LUMPUR - Former journalist and Kajai Award winner Wan Noor Hayati Wan Alias - better known as Wanti - died at the Serdang Hospital here at about 6.10 pm today. She was 44.
Her brother Wan Mohd Faizal Wan Alias, 46, when confirming the matter said she died due to heart failure after struggling with pneumonia.
According to him, Wanti will be buried at the Kampung Bintongan Muslim Cemetery in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan at around 11pm.
Wanti is understood to have been admitted to the Putrajaya Hospital due to shortness of breath after she had been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 in April.
Since then, her health began to deteriorate, believed to be due to the long terms effects of the disease, and she frequented the hospitals in Serdang and Kajang.
She was admitted to the Serdang Hospital two days ago.
Apart from Utusan Malaysia, Wanti also served with Berita Harian and Media Variasi and won the Kajai Award - the highest journalism award in the country - presented by the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI) in 2013.
A single mother, Wanti leaves behind a nine-year-old son. - BERNAMA
