Zahid confident MIC, MCA will stick with BN
NAZRIN ZULKAFLIKUALA LUMPUR - Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is confident that MCA and MIC will stick with the coalition.
He said so while commenting on Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor statement where he had offerred MIC and MCA to join Perikatan Nasional (PN).
According to Zahid, it has become a habit that before an election, there will be opponent parties offering cooperation to form a government.
"In any by-election, state election as well as general election, they would definitely make such an offer.
"MCA, MIC will remain together in BN," he told reporters after opening the National Entrepreneurs Week and National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Week 2023 on Sunday.
Previously, on July 7, it was reported that PN was willing to give MCA and MIC seats to contest in the state polls if both parties left BN.
Sanusi who is also PN election director general also suggested that MCA and MIC join PN to contest in mixed seats in the upcoming state election.
However, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong refused to leave BN for PN.
Apart from that, Zahid also congratulated former deputy Putrajaya Umno chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz who had recently joined Bersatu.
"We only need loyal Umno members to be in Umno and BN," he said.
