Young girl killed in collision with garbage truck
TAMPIN - A tragic incident occurred today at Taman Pinggiran Felda Sungai Kelamah, resulting in the death of a young girl who was riding her bicycle.
It is believed that her bicycle collided with the tire of a garbage truck.
Tampin district police chief Superintendent Anuwal Ab Wahab provided details about the incident, stating that at approximately 11:30 am, the seven-year-old victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Based on preliminary investigations, it was revealed that the 55-year-old driver of the garbage truck was collecting waste in the area," said Anuwal.
He further explained that the accident took place when the lorry driver was maneuvering into a corner lane to collect garbage.
Unexpectedly, the victim emerged from her house and collided with the truck's rear tire.
The driver immediately stopped to assess the situation and discovered the young cyclist beneath the rear tire.
The victim's body was transported to the Tampin Hospital Forensic Unit to determine the cause of death.

An investigation has been initiated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and it is currently ongoing.
