Pas need to mirror themselves - Mujahid
SHAH ALAM - Amanah vice-president Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa has accused Pas leaders of exploiting religion for personal gain, causing divisions among their supporters and members.
He said Pas leaders should engage in self-reflection before issuing misguided fatwas that call for the overthrow of the current government.
"The call to bring down the government, based on a misguided fatwa, is driven by political greed, hatred, and a lack of understanding of the principles of legislation.
"Before Pas leaders claim to be better, they must first look in the mirror and convince the people that they embody the true essence of Islam, and that religion should be seen as a source of beauty and harmony.
"People who exploit religion for personal gain will be seen as opportunistic individuals... It is important for Malaysians to open their eyes and for Pas members, in particular, to realise that they have been manipulated in the name of religion by Pas leaders," he stated in a video posted on Twitter yesterday.
Mujahid also highlighted that Pas itself has been involved in slanderous allegations following its recent losses in two court cases involving him.
"They have twice lost cases related to false accusations of involvement with the LGBT community and baseless allegations regarding the sale of Tabung Haji hotel.
"When we examine these instances, it becomes clear that Malaysians cannot trust laws issued by Pas, which claim to be based on religious and sharia principles," he added.
