State polls: PN voters unlikely to vote for PH-BN
ROSKHOIRAH YAHYASHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) voters are unlikely to give their votes to the Pakatan Harapan (PH)-Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition in the upcoming state election.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Srikandi vice-chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, however, said that PH-BN supporters are expected to change their minds and vote for PN candidates.
She mentioned that the rejection of PH-BN is due to several factors, including the failure of the Unity Government to govern the country, poor performance, and ministers interfering in unrelated matters.
"I don't see the need for previous PN voters to switch their support to PH; it is unlikely to happen.
"However, PH-BN supporters are expected to change their stance due to these failures.
"Umno supporters will not vote for the Unity Government.
"Recently, I visited Negeri Sembilan, and I heard many complaints from the grassroots level.
"They are clearly disappointed with what has happened, even though PH and BN have formed an alliance," she told Sinar Harian.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed confidence that the PH-BN alliance would capture two opposition-held states in the upcoming state elections.
However, Anwar refused to disclose the names of the two states.
Based on research and information obtained, he stated that Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Pulau Pinang will remain under the control of the alliance.
Mas Ermieyati added that people have started losing trust in the Unity Government due to the chaos that has occurred.
"However, the top leadership says 'okay', but in reality, they are all playing drama, putting on a show, while it is not felt by the people at the grassroots level," she said.
When asked about Anwar's statement, she viewed it as raising doubts because usually predictions or expectations are made based on the votes received in the previous elections.
"If we talk about the 15th General Election (GE15), PN swept or led in all three opposition-held states, namely Terengganu, Kelantan, and Kedah.
"Even in the stronghold of PH, namely in Padang Serai, PN successfully captured the seats.
"So, I am doubtful about how the Prime Minister can make such a statement, especially considering that today's situation clearly shows that many are dissatisfied with the Unity Government's handling of the country," she added.
