Roti Canai receives global recognition as best flatbread
Roti canai has been ranked as the best flatbread in the world, according to TasteAtlas.
TasteAtlas is an experiential travel guide for traditional food that collates authentic recipes, food critic reviews, and research articles about popular ingredients and dishes.
“Flatbreads have been enjoyed across different cultures for centuries, with each region adding its own distinct flavours and techniques to this culinary creation.
“While determining the absolute best flatbread would be an impossible task for anyone, we’ve turned to mathematics and counted your votes - as we always do,” wrote TasteAtlas in its Instagram post.
From breakfast staples to supper bites at the mamak, roti canai is a top choice among Malaysians.
The dough is pan-fried to produce a crispy outer layer and a soft interior, which is then paired with curry or dhal.
Meanwhile, butter garlic naan was ranked second, and in third place was nan-e barbari, a Persian flatbread.
