KUALA LUMPUR - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin held a crucial meeting to discuss their cooperation on the Malay Proclamation movement.

The two leaders convened for an extensive two-hour discussion at Dr Mahathir's residence last night.

Malay Proclamation Head of the Secretariat, Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan said the meeting between the two leaders would invigorate efforts to empower and fortify the position of Malays.

"These two influential Malay leaders are willing to set aside their past political differences to ensure the continuation of the struggle to strengthen our nation's position globally," he said in a statement.

Khairuddin highlighted that the meeting signified a significant step towards achieving complete Malay unity, a goal Dr Mahathir has been actively pursuing in order to fulfill the aspirations and dreams of all Malays.

"Indeed, the non-partisan approach of the Malay Proclamation movement welcomes all Malays who are eager to unite, regardless of their political ideologies.

"The Malay Proclamation Secretariat will spearhead efforts to unify the entire Malay community, identify and address contentious issues, and propose solutions to the problems that have plagued us for far too long," Khairuddin explained.

Last week, it was reported that Dr Mahathir, sought a meeting with Muhyiddin to clarify the objectives of the Malay Proclamation.
