Zahid had eye surgery due to nerve damage - Daughter
SINAR DAILY REPORTERSHAH ALAM - Datuk Nurulhidayah Zahid, daughter of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, has revealed the reason behind her father’s swollen eyes that has been the centre of attention for the past few days.
She said the Umno president was recovering from an eye operation.
According to a comment she posted on her Instagram account, she said her father had to undergo surgery due to damage of the optic nerve.
“Yes... his nerve is not functioning. That’s why his eyes look droopy.
“For what 'do' (plastic surgery) to his face, he is not a superstar. If the situation could be fatal, something needs to be done.
"Typical, people enjoy slandering more than knowing the truth,” she said in a reply to a follower’s question on Tuesday night.
Nurulhidayah took her father’s defence, stating that as a politician and a man who held a powerful position in the government, he opted out of taking a long break from work post-surgery.
Previously, Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, had taken a two-week leave.
The Bagan Datuk MP later returned to work wearing black shades throughout the day when he launched the 23rd Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Associates Asia Pacific on June 26 in Kuala Lumpur.
He finally gave up the shades and showcased his 'new eyes' post-surgery a few days back.
