SHAH ALAM - Selangor MCA has confirmed its application for five seats in the State Legislative Assembly, which are traditionally contested by the party, for the upcoming state elections.

Its chairman Datuk Ng Chok Sin however, said that until now, he has yet to receive an answer regarding the number of seats that would be distributed to the party.

"We have already gone through it, discussed and given a list (of seats) to the leadership to compete in the state poll (Selangor), but until today, we (still) have yet to be informed which seats will be distributed.

"Previously, we have given a list of about five seats, which are seats in traditional areas contested by MCA in the last election," he said on Monday.

He also said the five requested seats were the Sungai Pelek, Kuala Kubu Bharu and Rawang state assembly seats.

On June 27, the media reported that Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had assured MCA and MIC that they would be given seats to contest in six state polls.

Zahid, also the Deputy Prime Minister, said that the distribution of seats for the BN component considers suitability and a high winning rate.
