PUTRAJAYA - The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been urged to disclose the results of the investigation into the corruption scandal involving Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar and five of his former officers.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) associate wing member K. Vasantha said if MACC had solid evidence, then prosecution in court should be expedited.

"I am confident that MACC has completed the investigation and can proceed with the next legal process without taking too long," he said when met by reporters in front of the MACC headquarters building, here, today.

He said the people were now observing MACC's integrity and committment in eliminating corruption without being influenced by any party in the Madani government or outside influence.

"They have been investigating for almost 90 days but we still don't know the results," he said.

Vasantha said the delay in prosecuting Sivakumar in court will cause the people to lose confidence in the anti-graft agency.

"If it was about the Jana Wibawa case, it would immediately be brought to court but why is Tan Sri Azam Baki (MACC chief commissioner) not proceeding with the prosecution for Sivakumar's case," he said.

He added that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was very opiniated on the Jana Wibawa case which involved the opposition.

"Instead, corruption cases involving pro-government especially Cabinet ministers gave an impression of selective prosecution," he said.

Previously, MACC had arrested two of Sivakumar's senior officers following the commission's investigation into a corruption case of a foreign recruitment agency in April.

Following the arrest, Sivakumar had reportedly suspended three of his senior officers including a private secretary and a special duties officer who were detained by MACC.

The special duties officer was believed to have acted as a 'runner' to collect bribes from certain agents in exchange for quotas to hire foreign workers.

A few days later, the media reported that MACC had searched Sivakumar's office and residence.

Throughout the investigation process, Sivakumar who is also Batu Gajah MP was summoned twice to record his statement.
